Radiology & Medical Imaging
Imaging detailed enough to plan surgery around.
CT, MRI, advanced ultrasound, digital X-ray, fluoroscopy and mammography, across both our Abuja and Lagos centres.
Computed Tomography
CT scanning for detail that guides treatment.
CT builds a cross-sectional picture of the body from a rapid series of X-ray images, giving your doctor a level of anatomical detail a plain film cannot show. Our CT service covers everything from routine studies to the specialised work surgical teams rely on.
CT Angiograms
Triphasic liver scans
CT Urogram
CT-guided biopsies
Urological imaging
Commonly used for
- Assessing blood vessels through CT angiography
- Detailed liver assessment using triphasic studies
- Evaluating the kidneys and urinary tract by CT urogram
- Guiding biopsies precisely to the tissue in question
- Mapping anatomy ahead of procedures such as HoLEP or stone removal
Preparation varies by study. Some CT examinations require fasting or contrast; we will tell you exactly what to do when your appointment is confirmed.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging
MRI for soft-tissue detail, without ionising radiation.
MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves rather than X-rays, which makes it particularly valuable for soft tissue: the brain and spine, joints, muscles and many internal organs.
MRI is an active service at Rapid Diagnostics. Because the magnetic field is always on, our team will check with you about metal implants, pacemakers and other devices before your appointment.
Commonly used for
- Detailed assessment of the brain and spine
- Joint, muscle and soft-tissue evaluation
- Examining internal organs where soft-tissue contrast matters
- Follow-up imaging where avoiding radiation is preferred
Tell us in advance about any implanted metal or electronic device, previous surgery involving metal, or if you may be pregnant.
Advanced Ultrasound
Ultrasound, including 3D/4D and elastography.
Ultrasound produces live images using sound waves, with no radiation involved. Alongside general scanning, our service includes 3D/4D imaging for pregnancy and specialised techniques that assess how tissue behaves, not just how it looks.
3D/4D ultrasound
Fetal Doppler
Shear wave elastography
Tissue strain elastography
Commonly used for
- Pregnancy monitoring with 3D/4D imaging and fetal Doppler
- Liver health assessment using shear wave elastography
- Breast lesion evaluation using tissue strain elastography
- Abdominal, pelvic and urological assessment
Some scans require a full bladder or a period of fasting. You will receive instructions specific to your examination when you book.

Digital X-Ray
High-frequency digital X-ray, with images available quickly.
Our high-frequency digital system produces clear skeletal and chest imaging for general diagnostic needs. Digital capture means images reach the reporting radiologist quickly and are easy to share with your referring doctor.
Commonly used for
- Suspected fractures and bone or joint injury
- Chest imaging for respiratory symptoms
- General diagnostic imaging requested by your doctor
- Pre-employment and screening examinations
Most X-rays need no preparation. You may be asked to remove jewellery or change into a gown. Tell the radiographer if you may be pregnant.
Fluoroscopy
Real-time imaging for guided procedures.
Fluoroscopy produces a continuous, moving X-ray image, which allows structures to be observed as they function and instruments to be guided accurately during a procedure. It is used for both diagnostic studies and interventional work.
Commonly used for
- Studies where movement or function needs to be observed
- Guiding diagnostic and interventional procedures in real time
- Contrast studies requested by your specialist
Preparation depends on the study and often involves fasting or a contrast agent. Detailed instructions are provided when your appointment is confirmed.

Mammography
Dedicated breast imaging.
Mammography is a low-dose X-ray examination of the breast, used both for screening in women without symptoms and for assessing a specific concern. Where further characterisation is helpful, it can be combined with our ultrasound service, including tissue strain elastography.
Commonly used for
- Routine breast screening
- Assessment of a lump or other breast symptom
- Follow-up imaging requested by your doctor
Avoid deodorant, talc or lotion on the day of your appointment, as these can affect the images. Book for the week after your period if possible, when the breasts are less tender.
